What Happened Around Nashua This Week
A big casino is coming to the Sheraton Nashua The owners of the castle-shaped hotel off the Everett Turnpike go before the Planning Board on June 4 for the first phase of a plan that would add about 93,000 square feet of casino space and four restaurants. The hotel would be renamed the Gate City Casino Hotel, and the project is expected to bring around 290 new jobs. Nashua Ink Link
Woman dies in Morgan Street fire A 46-year-old Nashua woman, Stephanie Lemay, died of smoke inhalation in a late-night fire at a multi-family home on Morgan Street on May 31. About 10 people were displaced, and officials say the fire isn't considered suspicious. Patch
Child care keeps getting pricier in NH A New Hampshire family paying for center-based care for an infant and a 4-year-old spent about $30,000 in 2025, up from $22,500 in 2017, according to a new national report. Over the same stretch the state lost 120 licensed providers. Nashua Ink Link
Silver Knights are staying at Holman Stadium The city has approved a long-term deal to keep the Nashua Silver Knights playing downtown, as the summer collegiate team opens its 16th season at Historic Holman Stadium.
Charlotte and Theodore top NH baby names again Charlotte and Theodore were New Hampshire's most popular baby names in 2025, the same pair that led in 2024. There were 80 baby Charlottes and 101 Theodores born in the state last year. Nashua Ink Link
