What Happened Around Nashua This Week
Pushback on the school district's facilities plan At the school district's third community forum on its long-range facilities plan, parents pushed back hard, especially from the New Searles community, saying the data felt thin and the whole thing came off like a sales pitch. The plan, which floats options for closing or replacing several aging elementary schools, goes to the Board of Aldermen on Wednesday, June 4. Nashua Ink Link
Jim Ravan is the new Ward 1 alderman The Board of Aldermen voted 11-1 to put longtime resident Jim Ravan in the Ward 1 seat that opened up when Stephen Chess stepped down in April. Ravan, who co-hosts a local radio show with his wife and ran for the same seat back in 2023, will serve out the rest of the term through December 2027. Nashua Ink Link
The Pride Parade is back on for June 20 After the city floated the idea of skipping the parade this year, public pushback brought it back with a shorter route. The parade steps off Saturday, June 20 at 1:30PM from the Soldiers and Sailors Monument and ends at Holman Stadium, where the Pride Festival runs from 2PM – 7PM. Nashua Ink Link

A new 70-foot mural is going up at Renaissance Park Denver artist Graham Carraway spent the past two weeks painting a collage-style mural on the Water Street bridge, with fleurs-de-lis, textile mill workers, and a Colonial Theatre ticket stub as nods to Nashua's French-Canadian history. Rain washes out the Memorial Day parade The city called off Monday's Memorial Day parade because of rain. Cemetery ceremonies still went on at 8AM at St. Stanislaus, Lithuanian, St. Francis, and Edgewood. Nashua Telegraph
Silver Knights baseball is back at Holman The Nashua Silver Knights opened their 2026 season on May 27, with a 10:30AM first pitch against the Vermont Lake Monsters for Education Day. Opening Night follows Friday at 6:03PM with Monkey Boy and a magnet schedule giveaway. Nashua Telegraph
BAE Systems puts $85 million into its Hudson campus BAE announced a $135 million facilities investment last week, with the bulk of it going to a 65,000-square-foot renovation of its Hudson, NH site. The company says it'll add new engineering and manufacturing jobs to support U.S. military programs. Barchart
Nashua South takes the Granite State Challenge title The Purple Panthers beat Plymouth Regional 700 to 415 to win their third championship on the New Hampshire PBS quiz show, after earlier titles in 2016 and 2017. Police investigating a possible murder-suicide in Dover Dover police found a 78-year-old woman and her 57-year-old son dead inside a home on Dover Point Road on Tuesday morning after a welfare check. The state Attorney General's office is treating it as a possible murder-suicide and says there's no threat to the public. WMUR
Nottingham residents push back on a proposed data center A Seacoast entrepreneur wants to build a data center off Route 4 in Nottingham, and the town's planning board had to move the first meeting on it to the local school to handle the crowd. Opponents are worried about how much power and water the facility would use, and a protest is planned outside the meeting. NHPR
